What is Shared Safety?

ABOUT

Shared Safety is a coordinated community response to relational violence (domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking and reproductive coercion) in Philadelphia. Shared Safety was established in 2015 in a response to a need for a more coordinated response to relational violence in Philadelphia’s health and human services agencies. While relational violence is common, it has been primarily addressed through the justice system. Health and human services systems are not designed to identify and respond to relational violence. Available resources do not meet the need. Shared Safety brings stakeholder groups together to ensure better communication and coordination so that regardless of where someone enters the City’s systems, they can be linked to the appropriate resources and receive an immediate, supportive response.

OUR VISION

We envision a safer and healthier Philadelphia, where the City and the health and human services agencies that provide services will coordinate resources and responses to relational violence across all systems.
